Asefi says EU logical behavior will promise unconditional talks

TEHRAN, June 18 (MNA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said here on Sunday if the European Union behaves logically, there will be hope for unconditional talks.

“The EU should not assume that it will suffer a loss of prestige if it respects Iran’s (nuclear) rights,” he told reporters at his weekly press briefing.

He added few countries have mistakenly referred Iran’s nuclear dossier to the United Nations Security Council while negotiation is the right solution to the case.

Different committees led by officials of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) are studying the recent nuclear package of proposals of the Group 5+1, said the spokesman.

The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member states firmly backed Iran’s nuclear rights in the recent meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors, recalled Asefi adding the world noticed that the global consensus is in favor of the Islamic Republic and this is the United States that is in a tight corner.

Asefi said Iran faces no deadline for responding to the recent package because the proposals have different views that need close scrutiny.
